Overcoming Fear of Meeting New People

i have this irrational fear of meeting people for the first time. It’s like i want to go out and socialize, but at the same time i’m fearful they’ll either think i’m quiet or boring and never talk to me again. Any advice on how to move past this fear?

honestly it just takes practice. something that helped me is finding a friend that understood and having them there for those scary interactions. for me the only way to alleviate that fear (a little) was to go and face it regularly. it’s super scary and uncomfy at first but it gets better

I’m the same way. It’s helped me to start low-risk conversations to build confidence. Talk to cashiers, waiters, etc, people you’re sure you won’t see again. Also feeling physically confident by taking the time to look how I prefer can sometimes help me feel better about social interactions.
