Overcoming Sensory-Based Fears: How to Breathe Easy Again

how to overcome sensory-based fears? I have big health fears around smelling many foods, candles, incense, and cleaning materials. I fear that by inhaling even the smallest amount I will become ill from it infecting my lungs. rationally, i know that the amounts in inhaling are insignificant but I still can't help my body cringing from smelling those things. my breathing is very shallow as a result and I rarely feel I can get a full breath in, and this only makes my anxiety worse bc it's like an elephant on my chest

I understand it’s a lot easier said than done, but the best way to overcome fears because of OCD is to expose yourself to the triggers and sit with the anxiety. It will be difficult at first but the more you expose yourself to it and sit with the anxiety, the more it will go down overtime.

I’m trying to work on resisting doing OCD rituals i’m really bad at self control but that’s a good thing to do.
