How to Convince Doctors to Give Pain Medication to Young People?

Hi! Any suggestions on how to convince drs that young people do need pain medication/management? Mine don’t seem to want to give me anything at all because of my age. I understand they don’t want to put me on medication but also I need something to help with the pain. Everything they’ve tried me on in the past also hasn’t worked. So any suggestions on anything to try would be helpful!

Find a new doctor. You shouldn't have to fight to be believed

I don’t know why doctors do this x what are the highest pain medications you have used . I take Tramadol only when it’s unbearable and I need to work . A research doctors said that research behind Tumeric capsules should help the pain and the best combo is paracetamol and ibroprofen. But I’m not sure anymore as everyone’s body is different x

I mostly just take ibuprofen a the moment as its the only thing I have available… it doesn’t do much, paracetamol does nothing. I’ve had cocodomol- it just made me sleepy no pain relief, naproxen- just made me feel sick, and Meloxicam (I think? Unless that’s the dog medication… it’s got a very similar name if I’ve put the dog medication 😂) along with paracetamol that just did nothing… the last dr I saw just wants to give me sleeping meds and counciling…

I'm on gaberpentine and co-codamol as needed. Previously tried amitriptaline, paracetamol and cant take ibuprofen. Definitely try paracetamol and ibuprofen together (alternate every 2 hours for at least 1 week as they build up in your system). And then find someone who is willing to help, preferably an eds specialist. Tbh I would take the councilling if you can because it might be helpful and there is no harm, this doesn't mean you symptoms are all in your head, it means chronic illness sucks and often is difficulty to cope with

Idk about Drs but naproxen sodium, CBD salve, and weed help me the most.

Definitely find a new doctor. I usually take Ibuprofen or Naproxen and call it good but sometimes even that doesn't work. I've been wanting to ask for something stronger that's still anti-inflammatory but I know he would refuse based on what he's done in the past. I'm currently looking for a new doctor.

When you are young they think you need to go thru years of treatments first to be poked, prodded and jabbed for years that’s were they cause your anxiety and medical trauma. Then as you age into 50’s is when you’ve made it to the level of we can’t help you with all of our great treatments. But they still give you crap about prescribing to you. Well I’ve walked in both these shoes when I was younger and now over 50 and I completely support the idea of the younger people to have this as an option. Because pain is painful no matter what age. And everyone deals with pain differently. Unfortunately none of the doctors we deal with have had our issues so there’s no REAL understanding behind these idealisms that they have. If they have ever felt the pain we live with daily they’d most definitely change there whole view on pain medication I guarantee it!
