I was in a wreck in July and just discovered EDS as a thing last month, so i definitely didnt go in with proper warnings for myself. After the fact I'd discussed it with a friend with near-debilitating hEDS and they informed me i should have instructed them to treat me like a child or the elderly because my body is basically an 80 year olds and they should be using 'gentle manipulation' techniques. When I asked her to clarify for me what that meant, she said by using a traction table, then going to the pneumatic massager to gently loosen and work the problem areas before doing GENTLE adjustments vs the normal "aaaaaand I SNAP YOUR HIPS BY DROPPING A SUPLEX ON YOUR EXTENDED KNEE" kinda stuff 🤣 Luckily, when she explained those things, I was able to confirm that he did in fact go through that exact routine in that order with me every time. So, it seems I just lucked out. Definitely be your own advocate, call and ask questions! Ask the desk if they're familiar with EDS or any other medical concerns you have, and how—particularly—they treat those patients differently than others. Shouldn't even have to drive in to do that 🤙

Oh and yes it did give me immense relief..... For about the next 3 or 4 hours. The next morning usually felt about the same "normal" again. But, having ended my settlement-funded recovery in November, I've realised that overall i was feeling better then than i am now without having it at all. I was scheduled 3x/3wks then 2x/2 wks then 1x/1 wk then a re-eval and was let go.

In some cases, yes. My body doesn’t hold regular adjustments very long, but it’s definitely helped when I’ve had certain kinds of pain for long periods (for example, chest and neck pain probably due to a compressed nerve).

It’s dangerous with EDS. I was seeing a chiro - once he found out I had EDS he stopped adjusting me. Instead, he taught me how to use KT tape - game changer.

They help me a lot short term, especially since I found one who understands the condition!

@AraS all bodies, and especially EDS cases, are unique and subjective. It's not always dangerous with EDS if you don't have hEDS or a high Beighton score.
