Hi! I was on prednisone a few years ago and it helped me with my fibromyalgia symptoms. On the other hand, it made me gained weight and really worsen the depression I suffer from. I think you should consult your doctor about your options and see if you can start with more moderate treatment because steroids can have really bad side effects.

Hey Blinks! Steroids can be great and really relieve some of the symptoms such as swelling and stiffness. As sunflowers1 said, it can also have many side effects. But, as long as it helps you where other drugs fail I wouldn’t worry as much. If you do stop it though, remember to do so gradually. Good luck!

Hi Binks, steroids like prednisone are best beneficial for me when I have flare ups with inflammation. I try not to take it more than a few days because of the side effects. The thing the help me and other people with fibromyalgia the most, more than every other drug is exercise.

I was given a shot of this during a flair and it took me completely down from the attack in two days. I suffered from said flair for 4 days. I couldn't get out of bed. I couldn't move my back. I was in intense pain. Being driven to the hospital was excruciating. The shot helped me so much! Docs said only use it for those type of occasions though.

Quick fix sometimes but steroids have some sever side effects (brittle bones, weight gain etc.) I find Physical Therapy as helpful just takes longer for results.
