Propranolol has really helped me. I suffer with panic attacks and since being on it they have calmed down a lot.

this is really helpful thank you, I suffered the worst attack I’ve had yesterday I ended up in the hospital thinking it was much worse, just scares me taking stuff to do with my heart for some reason as to me having health anxiety I don’t want it to make it worse

Have you spoke to your Dr about your concerns? Your Dr should keep an eye on you while your on meds, I get my blood pressure checked and have blood tests every 6months.

I haven’t, here in the UK they don’t really give you chance to speak of your concerns it’s just a quick prescription and that’s it 😣

I've been on propanlol and currently taking Atenolol the sister medication of it. I didn't take either for anxitey. I take atenolol for high blood pressure and a heart arrhythmia. You should know that just stopping this medication can do a lot of harm such as elevated blood pressure, migraines and yes can even cause an arrhythmia when stopped abruptly. It can also cause low blood pressure because that's what it is mainly prescribed for is arrhythmias and blood pressure. It's considered a beta blocker.

this is what I’m scared of because it said it can cause things like that and I’m so anxious about my heart anyway with the chest pain that I got from an anxiety attack a couple of days back 😣

right, this is what my partner takes as well. She I think takes it for anxiety. I always thought it was eventually smart for her to ween off of it because when she runs out the side affects are scary 😓

I took propranolol for a couple of years for my anxiety until I found something better for me and I have to say it's one of the nicer anxiety meds to be on. No crazy side-effects and it never changed my mood or personality like other meds do since all it does is calm your heart. The only downside I ever had was it did give me a few episodes of low blood pressure but that wont hurt you any more than the high blood pressure you get from anxiety anyway.

It seems to help some but doesn’t completely take away anxiety. But she has trauma PTSD induced anxiety so it may be hers is exacerbated.
