Prozac for CPTSD: Does it work?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here has experience with trying Prozac to help with CPTSD. My psychiatrist has had me on it for a few months now, and has even doubled my dosage since starting it. However, I don't really feel any different from how I felt before taking Prozac. Does it work for some and not others?

Can you help? Connect today

All medications react differently with each person. Some people have really successful experiences with prozac while others don't. If you don't think it's helping, I'd see if your doctor has another idea of what to try ^^

I'm thinking about getting a second opinion since I mention this with my monthly meetings I have with my psychiatrist, and his immediate reaction is to up the dosage. It's at a point where I don't think he is willing to perscribe me anything else.

Hi! I take prozac for depression rather than my cptsd, but it still works like a charm! I had to up my dose quite a bit - at 45 mgs currently - before it started really working. If you're looking to calm night terrors, ask about Prazosim ( idk how to spell it )! It makes u sleep plus keeps away nightmares. Unfortunately, a side affect if prozac is very vivid dreams, so nightmares may be worse if you still get them :( hope this helped!

I heard a lot of people use prozac for depression rather than cptsd. I wonder if my provider is trying to put everything under one umbrella.

No medication works the same for everyone. All medications you usually have to wait at least 2 weeks to start seeing even a small difference. If it's been that long and isn't working then talk to your med provider. If they don't listen find a new provider. If doing this takes too long then I recommend going to a crisis center in your area for help. The crisis center I went to had providers that listened.
