Psoriasis Diagnosis at 48: Is Progression to Plaque Unlikely?

I am 48yr old male Just diagnosed with psoriasis. No symptoms until 3-4 months ago this past winter. My derm said it’s highly unlikely that my condition progresses to plaque if it hasn’t happened already, “at my age”. This true? I somehow feel there’s no real way to tell..appreciate any thoughts/guidance. Ty!!

No clue! I find that very interesting though and will stay tuned to this thread to see what others say. I was diagnosed at the age of 19 which I realize is young. I never had symptoms, mine came on immediately as what looked like a rash after being ill and then it progressed to plaque. Best of luck!

Thanks - How long did it take to progress to plaque? I am trying to figure out if it’s a progression or 2 things that are part of same family that are distinctly diff.

I feel I'm in kinda the same boat. I'm 51 never in my life did I ever have any issues . Never had anything then a year ago I had a small size of a quarter on my shin . Stayed there for a year and a half trying different topical that never worked but never itched nothing. The. I went to the derm she looked at it says it psoriasis and gives me some stuff to put on it. Never helped but now it was getting bigger and itching.Went to a different derm a year later and same thing she looked at it gave me medicine now I have them every where on my shins feet and hands. And they itch and very painful. Every day I get a couple more new spot. Now they want to start me on otezla. Idk

Everyone is different. But ,just know that biologics can cause cancer. So weight the odds.

My Psoriasis didn't appear until I was 66 years old. Never seen or thought of it before. It blew up to cover 2/3 of my body, in just weeks! No idea what triggered it.
