Red Heads and Pain Management: Missing Liver Enzyme?

I'm wondering if there are any other red heads out there that are difficult to treat for pain and did your Dr explain why?? Three different ones have told me that many red heads are missing a liver enzyme that causes the medicine to work as a pain reliever so.....if so.... what do you do to get around it?

Can you help? Connect today

I have never been told that and I am in constant pain. Thank you for letting me know I will look into this.

Personally I'd get the advice of a naturopath and do a cleanse.

I actually have consulted a naturopath and I find that kratom works well where narcotics could not. Delta 8 helps with the pain and sleep issues too. Prescription pain meds are useless.

My SO is and he was told he has a high tolerance to medication in general. Especially pain medication.

He has to take stronger dosage and more potent stuff in order for anything to work.

The missing enzyme was explained to my daughter at the dentist. They basically dosed her to the max before fixing her cavities. I didn't know about Delta 8, but I'll tell her now. Thnx😁

Not a problem. I get a red strain kratom that seems to also help with inflammation. It just depends on your state's laws.

Actually... I'm not allowed fruit because my endocrinologist says it causes the severe sugar crashes I get from hypoglycemia. But I do have a LOT of inflammation from my MCAS. Thanks though. You're right.... certain foods absolutely make it worse.

I was road by a surgeon one time that red heads have a higher pain tolerance. Therefore it makes it harder to control the pain when they do have severe breakthrough pain. It also makes it harder to get infected spots numbed for those of us with HS.

I am a red head and always need extra pain killers while they are working on my teeth. I have always had bad side effects with pain killers. So much that I would rather just deal with the pain.

I'm sorry I feel some of us with certain disorders handle pain differently all around

Being a red head is tough with pain. At least we have awesome hair!
