The psych who did an ASD evaluation mentioned that rejection registers as trauma to autistic brains and that's why it's so hard to stomach.

It can contribute to the stress factor which can set off anxiety.

So I was turned down for a job opportunity to move up in the company I was working for at the time and I felt like I was spiraling and absolutely felt like my entire life was falling apart. Now I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety previous to this but that felt like a punch to the gut. I had to get on antidepressants shortly after the rejection and because of changes to my work environment within that same company. So I'd say it can be triggering and cause trauma... Which can reveal mental illness? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hope this helps.

No but if you feel things deeper than others then the rejection might be a trigger for you. Or the could already be a mental illness you have that your not aware of

I would recommend speaking to a professional about your symptoms : ) this is called rejection sensitivity, and is a symptom for many mental disorders such as BPD, DPD, and many others! I hope you find the help you’re looking for!

Trauma is different for everyone, it really depends on what you feel emotionally. Take a bit of time exploring the feelings you have by asking why you feel this way. You are awesome and a great question for sure 😀
