Scared to Remove My GJ Feeding Tube

This is really odd but I have a GJ feeding tube and I can’t tolerate tube feeds anymore so the Doctor said that we can just take it out. I’m still not eating much but I am tolerating Kate Farms orally. So I for some reason am a little bit scared to get it out. Any insight on why I feel this way?

It’s an extension of your body and for the time it has been there it has probably become symbolic of feeling nourished. A very basic human need is to feel fed and that was helping you get there. It makes sense that it might feel scary to leave something familiar that was helping meet that basic need. Also, doctor-related things can feel scary for chronically ill people for many reasons. Just some thoughts, could be something entirely different and that’s okay. Good luck, you got this.
