Living with Sciatic Nerve Damage: Seeking Answers and Hope

I had sciatic nerve damage for over a year now. Most of the time, the pain isn't a problem, it's the fact that I feel like my legs should be paralyzed because of how numb and disconnected they feel. The fact that they move at all is surprising to me. Let alone the fact that I can even walk with a very unsteady gate. Is nerve damage usually like this? Will it ever improve?
