Seeking Advice on Chronic Pain and Knee Condition

hi, I'm looking for some help managing my chronic pain and to ask for some advice on my knee condition. I was told it could ne chondro malacia patallae around four years ago and have have multiple physiotherapists tell me that's not what it is while the doctors say it is. none of my physio is working and I've been told to just use crutches to get around when I'm unable to walk. I also have back pain from a historic injury, which is made worse by having to accommodate my knees. I've not yet had any scans. is it worth asking for a orthopaedic consultant and an MRI to find out what the problem is? thanks!

It sounds like asking for an orthopedic consult and MRI is a great idea! It’s so much harder to treat pain when you’re unsure of the cause, it sounds like your gut is probably right and it would be a good idea to get more information. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

I do think it is worth to ask for an orthopedic consultant and an MRI. I am biased against orthopedics though due to the fact that I was female teenager and had a male doctor which delayed my diagnoses, ive got no issues with MRI's(i just want to be fully transparent about my experiamce with them). However if you go in with some ideas of what you might have and are persistent I think they would be really helpful

yeah, I've had problems over the years as I'm AFAB and have had mostly male doctors who put it down to growing pains, but it's definitely not as I haven't grown in over 5 years! I'll see what I can do when I speak to then about it, but I am going to push for it as I've been dealing with it for too long now!
