Struggling with Sensory Issues from Retainers

I self identify as autistic. So I was wondering if anyone else in the Autistim community has ever struggled with sensory issues from the plastic retainers or permanent retainer falling out on just one side.

I had a retainer during my teen years and, though I didn't know I had autism at the time, I absolutely hated it. I couldn't stand the feeling of it in my mouth, and was grossed out when I'd take it out to clean it. So you're definitely not alone in this. I didn't find anything to make it more bearable but I hope you'll find ways of managing it! 💜

thanks for the comment. I am glad that I am not alone in this. I also hated using the elastics when I had the braces.

I know that feeling. I have a permanent retainer and two temporary ones that I can have in or out. I recently got a permanent one fixed so it's less overwhelming now.
