Need Shower Tips for Painful Water Sensation

Does anyone have tips for taking showers? I shower at most once a week because the feeling of the water on my back is unbearably painful. I’ve tried baths but I also have OCD and my brain will not let me sit in a bath of “me” soup.

Can you help? Connect today

You can always try a sponge bath.

I agree… sponge baths.. One days where the shower irritates me I just jump in hurry up and wash and get out.

I get the no rinse bath off Amazon as well as the bath wipes. It’s like what they use in hospitals when someone can’t get out of bed. They really work and leave you feeling clean.

I can't even take a shower it hurts my sensitive skin so I use baby wipes and I like clean baths. You put a level cup of Epsom salts and use a different cup and put 1/3 cup of baby oil and mix with your arms in at least 1/2 or more

The salt keeps the dirty water from sticking to your body.

you could try getting a shower head that has a light setting? or you could sit in the tub and let the faucet run but not plug the drain and scoop the water with your hand or a cup or something to rinse?

maybe try putting a loofah over the shower head to soften the water pressure?

Try sitting! I sit in the shower with the showerhead on the lowest pressure setting. it still makes my skin itchy but only because water just does that to me. I like to imagine it's a warm blanket designed to perfectly conform to me and keep me evenly warmed. you can also just face the showerhead if the only issue is water on your back

I think this is a little different but if I’m having a hard time showering I start with my clothes on. At that point I’m already wet and i find it can ease the transition depending on what’s happening.
