Struggling with Birth Control Effects: Lengthening Periods

So I started taking birth control, specifically Vienva, 4 months ago as a way to try and manage my extra heavy periods. Before taking BC, my periods would only last between 4-5 days but they were extra heavy and the pain was debilitating. I was hoping that BC could give me at least a normal flow or normal pain amount when it came to cramps. I knew there was no way that it would completely take it away due to how heavy of j flow I normally have. During the 1-2 month, I had 2 periods and they were fine! I had barely any bleeding and had very small cramps; the pain was almost unnoticeable. Fast forward to now, where I’ve been on my period for 10 days, so since March 2nd. It started off as barely anything just like the last two times, but on the 5th day, it started to get heavier and more painful. It’s a lot less heavy than normal which is good, but the pain is almost the same. Is it possible for birth control to lengthen your period/make it worse? I’m not sexually active, so if I have to stop taking it I will. I just don’t really like having such a long period as it really defeats the purpose of me taking it!
