Advice on Planning a Solo Day Trip

Looking for some advice/recommendations on how to do some stuff alone. My homework for therapy is to plan a small day trip for about 1.5 hours away by myself. I can do some things like: go to the grocery store, drive through (but only alone), go into gas stations, simple little things. Eating alone, going to a movie, day shopping, all sound terrifying alone. How do I plan and go on an entire day trip alone?

So you don't say what aspect of fear you're trying to address, so I'll try to hit a few things that stress me out. I've found listening to audio books or podcasts while out relieves some of my social anxiety if that's what you're feeling. I would start with something small. Can you break up the hour and a half in increments of 20 minutes? Maybe you could start with a drive through (menus are often online) and then plan an in and out trip to the grocery store (again, stock is online). That way you don't have to make decisions in the moment. You can have a script, so to speak, of what will happen. Sometimes that will help you feel in control. Plus if you go on a walk during a time when people aren't normally around, it might help you feel less observed?

i think going somewhere not too close to where you live like you said would help, moving away from my hometown made me feel a lot more confident about doing things alone!! one thing that helped me was that i know i have never seen someone doing something alone and given it any negative thought at all, no one will be doing the same for you! another thing is don’t push yourself - go to a fast food place rather than a sit down restaurant, go to a movie that doesn’t have lots of seats booked if the crowd would make you feel more uncomfortable, tell yourself that you’re going to go into a shop for X amount of minutes and then let yourself leave if you need to!! it all gets easier the more you do it :)
