Starting Hoshimotos Medication - Need Advice

Hey everybody! I was diagnosed with hoshimotos in 2013 and I’ve always been subclinical so I’ve never been prescribed anything until now. They gave me 25 mg to start and I wanna hear about everyone else’s thoughts and journeys on this medication. I have a serious fear of taking pills so this is very hard for me…..

Are you experiencing any symptoms?

I had thyroid cancer so I was put on a much higher dose. I will say I notice you are taking the off brand. That didn't do anything for me. I had to switch to the name brand- Synthroid. It works wonders when your levels are correct!

I got diagnosed a few years ago and was immediately put on levothyroxine 50 dose because my levels were like 45. I don’t think I had too many side effects, it just didn’t really get rid of symptoms they were hoping like extreme fatigue because other stuff is causing that too. The main one is the heat sensitivity more so than before when I was always freezing. But it got the levels down to 2-3 so it has worked for that.

I got diagnosed when I was 7 and started taking Levothyroxine shortly after my diagnosis. I’m 22 now but I had to get my thyroid removed when I was 12 because there were signs that my thyroid was going to start getting worse and start harming me more so. My options were chemotherapy for a few months in which they had to remove it anyways or take it out now. I still take the medication but at this point it’s kind of become like a vitamin since I’ve been taking it forever

The pills are small and easy to take. Only side effects I had in the beginning or since was it makes it a bit harder to lose weight and can make you tired but other than that pretty okay.

I've been taking levothyroxine since I was around 6, and I'm 21 now. Never experienced any negative side effects that I'm aware of! If your thyroid levels start getting worse especially, I would definitely recommend as those symptoms can be really rough
