Struggling to Open Up About My Mental Health with My Partner

I’ve been really struggling to open up to my partner about my mental health. With my therapist, I’m an open book; even with some of my friends. With my partner, I’m just so scared they’ll get all weird with me. I was hospitalized once and that definitely put a strain on our relationship. They don’t support the notion of me ever going to the hospital again even though I had a pretty positive experience. How do I not let their opinion taint mine? How do I open up? I’m just struggling being authentic with them :(

Why do they not want you to go to a hospital? If you need help you need help and I don’t think they should have any opinion on whether or not you choose to seek out medical attention. Can you tell me more about why they don’t want you to get help?

they think it will make me worse because of things they have read and seen on the internet… Any time I bring it up they seem to know what’s “best for me” and put an end to my want/need to go to a hospital. A lot of things are like that where they “know what’s best for me” and shame me into an almost child role where they’re the parent…
