Struggling with Heavy Periods: Seeking Advice and Support

Really struggling with heavy periods. I've seen lots of gynaecologists but I feel like I'm not being taken seriously. I go through 20-25 extra thick pads a day for about 10 days. I'm 48 and they say they won't even consider a hysterectomy until I'm 50. I have to have Intravenous iron therapy and blood transfusions as a result. my whole life is controlled by the bleeding. Any advice/support would be great

Has your doctor tried Tranexamic Acid? It can really help.

I think it's awful that you would be forced to continue to have to suffer through this! Its ridiculous that you experience so much blood loss but are still not considered qualified for a hysterectomy. I was having intense bleeding with large clots. Once, a clot dislodged and expelled my IUD. It was disrupting my life and I had no plans on having more children. I was 41 when my hysterectomy was approved and completed. This was through Medicaid. Is this strictly the doctor's refusing to consider the procedure, or does it have anything to do with your insurance approval?
