Struggling with my lazy eye and social interactions

I've been blind in my right eye since I was 11 years old due to Rubella retinopathy, and it has caused it to be lazy. It stays more to the right, and it's caused some issues. I have had people think I am looking away from them when the eye that can see is looking straight at them. It is unnerving for me, and I'm struggling with how to deal with it. I have this happen more with kids, and I am getting to the point where I just look down when I'm talking to them, and quickly look up to them to read their lips, as I am also Deaf. Does anyone else deal with this?
