Struggling with Mobility Issues and Low Mood

Hi everyone. I'm now living in my living room because my legs are not great and I can't get around anymore. So now I'm getting quite low in my mood and I'm trying hard to get back on my feet again but so far I've not had any results.

Can you help? Connect today

I'm trying not to stress myself but it's becoming increasingly difficult to be honest. I've been thinking that maybe I'm better off out of it.

I've had a bad back and since having two neck surgeries it doesn't help my back any which in fact effects my legs! Never give up hope as there's always a tomorrow! Wishing you the best! Have you tried physical therapy by any chance or anything to strengthen your legs?

I was blessed with a family member who had polio as a child. Indeed sad for her, but she didnt let her stop her from doing much. She taught me that there are many ways to get things done. Rethink the normal way and find a not-so-normal way.

Try to do stuff yo lift your mood first then try very gentle excercise laying down leg excercises then sitting and then standing. The same ones but work your way up. Do it atca certain time every day so you can mentally relax and not think about it as much. Im just going to say medical marajuana has changed my life I can lay still with out feeling guilty about it and it takes away pain and takes my mind off my my physical problems

I have been in the same situation many times. Don't lose hope. With some stretching and gentle movements, it will get better. I know it's frustrating, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Are you able to try water physical therapy? It helped me a lot

Water therapy is very helpful. The warmer the better. I just have to be careful not to over do because it feels so good. Hot shower or bath can help as well if you don't have access to water therapy. Exercise is key. PT is best. I also found pilates to be good because its a slow and controlled type of exercise. Yoga does not work for me.

Aside from the medical side, its hard to accept that we cant do what we used to do or what others still can do. You may find yourself much more happy if you look at things from a different angle. As they say, take the lemons and make lemonade (i love lemonade). Its your living room, its just a space, make it be what you want. You are unique, your home can be unique too. Little by liitle (or all at once) make things better for YOU.

I found myself not so quite as bad as you but after having 2 neck surgeries (1 failed) then all of a sudden out of nowhere a broken neck! I also had a failed back surgery many years ago but anyway as the years slipped by couldn’t do the things I was use to do! I use a cane at times but I’m stubborn I will not give up! My legs are bad too because of my back but I’ll refuse to give up! My mood gets very low but am seeing a counselor and my kids are wonderful! I also lost my husband 4 months ago so that doesn’t help any! Praying for you!❤️🙏

It's horrible when your body limits what you can do isn't it? Would you be able to do any sort of very gentle, seated exercises just to help keep your blood flowing, muscles active and to give you something to do? Even if you're not an older person, have a look on YouTube for something like chairobics for seniors or seated exercises for mobility impaired. There's just about something for everything on there. If you're able to speak to your doctor, that might be a good thing to do as well. Sending you lots of love - make sure to be gentle with yourself because it's not your fault and you didn't ask for this to happen. 💕
