I am on the amovig shots and nurtec. I think that the two work really will together. If you are still having more then just a few migraine a month I would not let go of the shots.. yes they are the same type of meds, but they help each other and the nurtec can be used as a daily and as a preventative.. you do what you think is best it's your health. You Dr is medically trained but they don't know what you suffer though ever day. Look out for your best interest.

I just started on Nurtec. Is it normal to only get 8 as a month's supply? And is the melt tab the only form it comes in?

I was on Emgality and it really helped with my migraines but caused severe joint pain the day after the shot. Like can't use my hands joint pain, which my doctor informed me is very rare lol but I tend to get the rare things in life 😅 switched to Aimovig (he told me the three migraine shots are very similar but some just work better for some people) and I was on that for a yearish. I moved to a different state a year ago and my new Neurologist has been tweaking my meds and she moved me from the migraine shots to Vyepty a migraine Infusion you only do every three months and it has changed my life. My migraines AND headaches are significantly less frequent and less severe. I know everything doesn't work for everyone but I just wanted to throw that out there for any migraine sufferers because I've been a chronic migraine sufferer for years and the difference it has made is huge. The shot might be the huge difference for you though!

thank you. I'm not looking for a miracle cure. Lol but wanted some input. I get the rare stuff sometimes too so that is good to know!

Following your post as I'm new to migraine meds. I have had them most of my adult life, but only found a Neurologist that listens about 6 months ago. (It's a long story, started about 8 yrs ago) Insurance is not wanting to cover Ubrelvy (1st med attempt), fought with them for 2 months. Finally got changed to Nurtec a few days ago. Took my first one this morning. 🤞

I really hope you get relief. It has helped numbers wise, just not as much as I want.

@MysticFae Thank you! Has any of you done Botox? If yes, what was your experience? My Neurologist has suggested it.

insurance wouldn't cover it. And I have an issue with poisonous fish juice being injected lol
