So far I am fine. I had been on 88 mcg. But had Synthroid 50 mcg in storage. So I began to wean myself off of Synthroid by going down gradually, doing 3 weeks of 50, then 3 weeks of 44 (slicing the 88s) then 3 weeks of 25 (slicing the 50s). I am in the midst of this part now and am feeling fine. In conjunction with less Synthroid I have changed my diet. That started about 6 months ago & I have lost 14 pounds by quitting carbs, sugar, most dairy, and packaged food. I now eat lots of veggies and legumes and a bit of lean meat with fruit as dessert. However, the biggest must-do is adding a bunch of supplements. I take Vitamin A, K, C, D3, Selenium and Zinc, and a Thyroid Supplement with natural herbs like Ashwagandha, Iodine, etc. which I actually bought on Amazon but the Village Apothecary in Maryland also sells it online.

let me know if you try going off the Synthroid too. I wish you the best in your endeavor. I wrote in another reply the things I am doing, so keep me informed if you try. It’s a little scary but anything is better than being beholden to the wacky conventional, invasive doctors.

The thing with Synthroid is that it is literally replacing something that you body simply cannot make anymore (if you have the autoimmune type). Just be careful and make sure you’re checking in with your labs as well, rather than just how you feel. As it can take weeks-months to actually feel bad difference.

I'm am really thinking about trying to wean myself off of Levothyroxine. I have been on it for at least 20 years. I'm surprised at the amount of people getting off of it and doing great. I am going to do my homework for sure!! Thank you for all the info!

You’re Welcome, Daffodil. The doctors put me on Synthroid right after I gave birth to my son 26 years ago. My hormones at that time were naturally outlandish. I have read in research that many women are put on Synthroid after giving birth. I have been on it every day since then. I wonder if it was ever really necessary for all of those years! My prayer is that my thyroid will pick up any slack once I’m off it and begin to produce again all the hormones needed. Actually needed, not just what a lab test says. I wonder about the lab test origins.

I agree whole heartedly!! I have an appt with a homeopathic dr on Monday she is going to help to get off this medication. I'm just a bit nervous to do it without her help I am praying my thyroid starts doing what it is suppose to so with out the synthetic medication. I often wonder if I should have even been on it l these years.... I was so young then and just did what I was told lol! I'm a bit older now and wiser 😌 and kinda like taking control of my health myself.
