Taking Mirtazapine for Anxiety: What Else Can I Take?

Is anyone else taking mirtazapine? if so what else do you take on top of that for your anxiety? I take 45mg mirtazapine for depression, insomnia and anxiety, but I also take buspirone for anxiety but sometimes I wonder if I should change mirtazapine to something else so I can take something else alongside for anxiety. because I can't really take many meds with mirtazapine and definitely can't add another on. just wondering what other ppl are taking πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

I take buspirone and escitalopram (lexapro). I'm also on lamotrigine (lamictal) for seizures, but it's also used as a mood stabilizer in people without epilepsy. My psychiatrist added buspirone when the Lexapro wasn't enough, and between those three and one other, both my depression/anxiety and my seizures are under control. My psychiatrist had a different one he said is most often prescribed with Lexapro, but due to my epilepsy he had to prescribe buspirone instead. I've only been on it for about 2 months and there is a significant and noticeable difference. Obviously what works for me might not work for you, but that's where I am with the buspirone.

well I'm glad that works for you. I was on lamictal for a couple months last year for my BPD and it wasn't helping really stabilize my mood but it did cause me to always have a very high heart rate in the high 90s up to 130s even at rest...so I stopped it because it made me feel more anxious. But I'm curious for people who take mirtazapine because I can't add another med for anxiety because of a higher risk of serotonin syndrome. With the buspirone that's all I can take unless I quit the mirtazapine and try a different combo πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
