Tips for reading with undiagnosed ADHD?

I have undiagnosed ADHD and when I read the words move around and I skip words (I don't think it's dyslexia). Does anyone have any tips?

Hi friend! It sure sounds like dyslexia. ADHD and dyslexia can go hand and hand and it’s not uncommon to see them together. I’ve got some minor dyslexic issues but it’s not too much of an issue. Does it affect your daily life?

Mostly no. It's harder to read out loud than in my head, but it's mostly the same. I also want to start reading more so I'm not sure what to do about it.

I use a bookmark to keep my eyes on the line and that helps some to not have my eyes skipping around the page

I would recommend looking at dyslexia as a possibility or Irlen syndrome. As these are both linked to ADHD. Try different coloured paper or coloured overlays

Using the ‘read text’ mode if it’s digital text has helped me tremendously.

There are fonts that can help. And I use a book mark plain colored to keep myself at a line at a time. If im real foggy ill cut a hole to cover up the text above and below.

Also I suggest looking more into the symptoms of these disorders. Remember, just because you relate to only a few symptoms doesn't mean you have it. It's always good to go get checked out to see what you actually have. I spent months researching ADHD before i actually got diagnosed. (I also tend to skip around when reading and I think it's just a habit I have because I'm so used to being timed during reading and also my mind is always racing)

While this is more prevalent in people with dyslexia, it is also common in people who are neurodivergent. Personally I have ASD which causes me to have these symptoms. Best thing to do is do some in depth research into ur specific symptoms and look to get tested if you can.
