Tips for Staying Focused While Studying

ello! studying and staying focused has always been a challenge to me (i have a very hyperactive mind). i’ve been in need of getting my driver’s license, but in order to do that, i have to study the manual and take the test. any tips on staying focused and studying in my position? i am currently not taking any meds, i *was* on concerta for some time, but it did little to help.

Wish I could help. I can't sit through an episode of a show and I have to do something while I watch and wind up switching position 12,000 times. 🤷‍♀️

I had the same reaction with Concerta :/ Try to see if Caffeine helps? It makes me calmer, which happens to a lot of people since caffeine is a stimulant. I usually get water flavor packets with caffeine in it. Be careful though, sometimes caffeine makes me sleepy

Hi idk if this helps, but I just got my permit and what I did was always making sure I had a fidget, and setting 10 minute timers to study. Every 10 (or however long works for you) I took a quick break to stretch, drink water, do something interesting, etc. It takes longer total but was much more efficient for me because I could only benefit from focusing for that amount of time

It really helps me study and understand things by studying with someone else (maybe someone else in your class or a friend) and talking things through and figuring out why it is that way. Like if something is just memorization, I like to think of a funny way to memorize it. Or if something is confusing and I don’t understand it, I need to talk through why that makes sense then I’ll remember it so much better later. Good luck!!!
