I wouldn't say there's one specific thing that it comes down to. It's really just about how your brain works because the brain works differently for autistic people. That's why they do so many different tests and whatnot when seeking a formal diagnosis

considering that autism is a neurodiverse condition there arent really any traits you need. mostly i figured out i wasnt just "odd" by clicking with specific autistic quirks other people had. other things like the sensory issues and inability to read social cues have been apart of my life forever but i only noticed them after i was diagnosed.
