Can You Have Trauma Without PTSD?

Can you have trauma but not ptsd? because I think I have been through things that are considered traumatic but i definitely don’t think i have ptsd. also, how do you know if something is trauma?

Most definitely, yes you can! Trauma is less about what happened and more about how you, your body, and your mind processed the event and what adaptions it had to make to recover/get through it

Yep, you definitely can! It’s called “little-t trauma.” What my therapist told me was that it is more to do with emotional or psychological trauma, whereas PTSD has more to do with physical trauma and the psychological effects of it.

yes absolutely it’s like the whole every rectangle is a square but not every square is a rectangle thing. you can absolutely have trauma without ptsd but you can have ptsd without trauma
