Concerned about Thyroid Nodules Found During Ultrasound

I have my first ultrasound on Friday. I had a CT scan done last year unrelated to this, and they said they found thyroid nodules. Should I be concerned it's something bad? 1 nodule is said to be 3cm

Most thyroid nodules are benign. If the nodule is 3cm, you will likely be sent for a fine needle biopsy. I have a large nodule in the left side of my thyroid as well as several other small nodules. I was definitely very scared when they were first discovered on an ultrasound and don’t worry about them much now that they’ve been investigated and are benign.

I’ve the same situation, could they turn cancerous?

It is highly unlikely that a benign nodule will turn into cancer. You can have it biopsied routinely to keep an eye on it.

I have multiple nodules as well. I am due for a fine needle aspiration biopsy in July. As there is only a 5% chance that they can be cancerous. Most all nodules are benign. It is very common to get these. This is what I was told by my endocrinologist. My bigger one is well over 2 cm in size. They will send it off just to have it checked out. I was worried more so of the fact of them sticking a needle in my neck than anything but my mom has had this done multiple times before having to have her thyroid removed completely. She endured me it isn't that bad of a procedure.
