The Problem with Unqualified Medical Advice on this App

I think a problem with this app is how so many people dish out advice as if they’re qualified, if people could please refrain from diagnosing people that would be good because it can be really unhealthy to someone’s well being to be told they have this and that when we really have no clue and can’t diagnose them based on what we read on this and it can really get in your head the idea that it must be this thing this person said etc which not only can be anxiety inducing or miss informing where the person could get the wrong impression about an illness but also can impede on the process of actually diagnosing the problem. Giving out general advice and sharing your experiences is so great but telling people things with such certainty isn’t healthy, we should avoid saying “that sounds just like ___” and instead say “I read something that described a similar experience to yours so have you heard of ___ it could be worth looking into?”

yeah that’s always good, just to remind people we aren’t professionals and this isn’t the place to seek professional advice and not give advice with such authority I think would benefit a lot of people, as I just see a lot of people on here getting stressed out or fixated on things that they really don’t need to worry about as they have no real evidence to be concerned with etc and it’s sad to see a lot of people getting worried unnecessarily and that effecting their lives, I think coming from a place of understanding more than advice is more important here
