Struggling with Veganism and Prescribed Medication Dilemma

I've only just been made aware that quite a few of my prescribed medicines aren't vegan and that my doctor hadn't told me, despite knowing I follow a vegan diet. I'm now torn between my ethics and my health. without those medicines I would be in constant severe pain and probably bedbound, but it doesn't feel comfortable knowing that they do not align with my ethics. what can I do?

How is a medication not vegan? I thought all medicines were synthetic from the lab? What animal products could be inside them? If it's just gelatin capsules, you can throw away the capsules and consume the powder inside only
