Do you have vivid and graphic dreams?

This is kind of a weird topic and I’m honestly not sure if it’s related but, does anyone else experience oddly vivid dreams? Extremely blurry but detailed and graphic dreams?? I don’t know why but I’ve always had insane dreams and nightmares and it’s only gotten worse over the years. I know many people sleep to escape pain but for me it’s never been the case. In my dreams it only gets worse. I get sleep paralysis quite often too. To give an example (I’m sorry if this sounds abnormal, I’m not sure why my mind is like this lol) one of the recent dreams I had was for some reason I was in a class of kids and myself, and we were being tricked into being murdered and having our organs harvested and for some reason in the dream I was the only one who knew??? (Idk why my dreams have whole ass plots lol) and I had to save everyone in the class basically including the people who didn’t like me so the dream was my interactions with those people (faces and names I’d never seen or heard in real life) and it was really gorey and graphic obviously cuz organs were being harvested. idk why it was so detailed like why did I dream an entire kid getting their organs scooped out while they were still alive ?? idk lol that’s one of many graphic weird dreams I have for some reason, I have other dreams that aren’t as graphic but equally as weird. to be honest i write and draw and started making some of my stories based on my dreams because they have so much plot for some reason. as fucked up as it is, at least it gives me writing material. if you read this far share one of your weird dreams with me lmaoooo

I think some dreams can have a lot of psychological implications. I’ve talked with my therapist about several of my weird dreams before and what they might mean, and it actually helped. I think other dreams might not mean anything. Pay attention to what you’re taking in through what you watch make sure that’s not what’s causing the dreams. You might want to see a sleep medicine doctor as well and do a sleep study. I just did a sleep study for sleep apnea but they also asked about dreams and nightmares and night terrors etc. I didn’t ask for help with dreams while I was there. I have some weird dreams sometimes but never quite as graphic or scary as yours. I hope that helps.

I would also like to know more about why I have such vivid dreams about terrible things. I’ve had nightmares since I was a child. Something that helped me not dream is cannabis. My dreams stopped when I started using Mj. Its so nice to actually feel like my brain have slept the whole night with bad dreams. But lately I’ve been letting my dreams flow and I’ve been trying to understand what they mean and I let them play out as if they are a movie.

I have the same generic theme for my night terrors; being chased and harmed/killed, and paranormal. After doing some generic online research I've deducted that my nightmares are caused by unprocessed trauma. It's definitely something you might want to bring up to a therapist if possible, you might be able to move past it. I've also found serotonin supplements to be helpful in having less night terrors. Best of luck to you finding a solution that works for you, and you can reach out if you need to!

Thank you guys for your responses! I’ve become oddly comfortable with my abnormal dreams (they’ve been happening so long I don’t have a choice tbh) but I will try to speak to a doctor or my therapist about it regardless and dig deeper into them with a sleep study

I used to get super vivid dreams every night. But, I smoke marijuana and for some reason it’s like it turns them off. Or at least, I have zero recollection of my dreams. If for some weird reason, I don’t smoke one day, I usually end up having the vivid dreams again. I used to like them, to be honest. But the relief I get from marijuana during the day outweighs my desire to remember my dreams.
