How does the voice dropping work on T? im 3 months on the gel and im noticing slight changes as time goes on but everyone talks about a voice drop does that happen like noticably in a quick amount of time or is the entire process slow and it eventually just is deep after awhile of slowly getting deeper? or is there a suddenish drop? its the one change im really really wanting bc i have horrible voice dysphoria and im excited for it to drop but i like knowing what to expect

My voice was probably the biggest trigger for my dysphoria as well, so I know how hard it is to wait for that specific thing. My voice dropped suddenly about 2 months in, then gradually got deeper for the next year or so. I was surprised it happened that fast, as most of my research had indicated it would take 3-6 months to drop noticeably. At 3 months, you're right there. However, I use injections. Delivery method is going to make a difference as well as your body's natural chemistry. Everyone's timeline varies based on many different factors. If you are noticing other changes, it shows that it is working. Focus on those positive changes to remind yourself that the T is doing its job. If you're still concerned, talk to your doctor about changing the dose or possibly switching to shots (if needles don't bother you). Above all, stay positive, hopeful, and patient. I know that sounds trite, but it truly is important. I also know that it is one of the hardest things to do in this situation. Just remember that you aren't alone in this and that the changes will come.

yeah thank you! I originally was going to do injections but i didnt like the idea of the emotional up and down since its once a week and also im terrified of needles even after some needle phobia therapy haha, but i guess my main concern is that the voice drop wont be noticable for a lot longer because im on gel but i just wasnt sure if there was like an indicator that shows its about to just drop or smth idk lol

We gotta find you someone who’s done the gel this is the third post of yours I’ve come across LMAOO. I do injections. I’ve done one of those little voice diary things as well and I was able to tell difference in the texture of my voice within a few weeks. Changes like my voice getting tired quicker was also evident. There was a considerable drop for me after about three months. Like our other friend in this chat was saying, 3-6 months is pretty standard. I’d imagine that range accounts for the potential different methods of taking T and differing bodies and what not. So I’d say you’ll notice “the drop” within the next couple months. I think “the drop” is notorious through out a majority of male puberties though, cisgender or otherwise. I’m excited for you man it feels like an eternal process, but a year goes by and you realize just how much you changed. I recommend taking pictures/videos every month or so, so you can help yourself see just how much you’ve changed. Since the changes can seem so small and spread out as you’re experiencing them. Just keep moving forward 😎🤙
