Eating the right foods wasn't enough for me I ended up having 8 iron infusions because with every menstrual cycle I had It would deplete me again so I had to have an endometrial ablation with dnc and I've had 2 cycles now and no period so it was a success for me. I couldn't take the iron pills because of stomach issues and Eating foods rich in iron never helped because of my periods so if your having issues this bad with the cause being heavy cycles I'd mention these options to your dr.

Long time anemic here! 👋 Vitamin C helps your body absorb iron, so take a vitamin c supplement with your iron supplement and with meals that contain iron. On the reverse side: calcium INHIBITS iron absorption, which I was very annoyed to learn after I bought a vitamin C supplement that had calcium in it. So whenever you take your iron supplement or eat an iron-rich meal, try to avoid ingesting iron with anything that’s high in calcium (milk, cheese, almonds, broccoli and for some reason, oranges, so oranges are not a good vitamin C supplement for this reason).
