I have discovered that I am an emotional eater and when I am depressed lean on food as a comfort. I have gained weight as a result.

I too am an emotional eater but I really haven't seen a correlation. It's been moreso from dieting/puberty/life circumstances (like COVID made me gain weight...ugh) There certainly can be one though!

Yes, I have a hormonal imbalance that causes weight gain, as well as depression & anxiety. So it’s important to always rule that out

My weight is very connected to my mental health. When I’m mentally healthy my weight goes back to a healthy weight for me just kind of naturally. If my mental health is off and I try to exercise more, eat healthier, etc. it has like no effect. I’m sure there are multiple things at bay but it has always been super tied to my mental health. Which in a way has been good bc tbh it allows me to not obsess over my weight but recognize the larger issue at hand so I can focus on my mental health knowing the weight will follow close behind.
