Need suggestions for weight gain with ulcerative colitis diagnosis

Does anyone have suggestions for weight gain? I’m in the process of getting diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, I lost 15 pounds. I’m currently using Carnation Breakfast Essentials, I’m looking into drinks from Kate Farms, but I’m hoping for other ideas. Preferably dairy free, drinks/powders or solid foods like protein bars.

So sorry to hear what you’ve been through lately! The good news is that once you get on a treatment that is right for you and move into remission, you should be able to begin gaining back your weight. Until then, remember that small frequent meals are your friend (vs 3 meals per day; smaller but more meals help you pack in calories but also tolerate the volume without worsening diarrhea). Nutrition shakes like Kate Farms will probably be better tolerated than Boost or Ensure due to the difference in sugar content and osmotic load (Boost and Ensure can worsen diarrhea). If you are able to tolerate creamy nut butters, butter, cheese, and olive oil, for example, see how you can add these to foods you are already eating, as long as the extra fat doesn’t worsen your diarrhea.
