Worried about TMJ and Wisdom Teeth Removal

I am getting my top wisdom teeth removed in a couple days and I am worried about how my TMJ may affect the healing process. They have already started through my gums so it will be more like a tooth removal (thankfully). Has anyone else gone through something similar and do you have any tips?

Having TMJ had no impact for me regarding my wisdom teeth removal!

Moist heat on the sides of your jaw and occasionally ice could be really helpful. It depends on your sensitivities or lack of

I’m concerned about this too!! My wisdom teeth removal will already be complicated because of the way they’re coming in and smashing my other teeth that TMJ only adds to my concerns

I have TMJ and the only impact it had was keeping my mouth open as mine was done without anesthesia. I had no impact on recovery. Best of luck!

My TMJ did not effect my surgery at all! I had a really easy recovery!

My dentist won’t operate in fear of harming it more. I’m sure it’ll be okay as long as they know your situation, so they can be more aware. Good luck

Tmj didn’t effect the process as far as I know, but my jaw was super sore for a week or two after the procedure. I’m not sure how far they opened my mouth and I don’t want to know 😅 it worked out fine though and I was back to my baseline pain in a couple weeks.
